Five Ways to Include Candles into Your Self-Care Routine

Five Ways to Include Candles into Your Self-Care Routine

Self-Care is always important. It is refreshing and relaxing, the perfect way to regroup after a long day or long week. No matter how busy you are, you should never skip out on a little self care. The best way to relax is to incorporate a delicious candle into your routine. It encompasses every aspect of your health, and should be considered a priority.

Scents can have positive effects on mood, stress reduction, sleep enhancement, self-confidence, and physical and cognitive performance. Clearly, using candles can be a great way to show yourself some love.

1. Meditation

There are many different types of meditation. Meditation is the practice of resting the mind. In today's busy world, we are constantly being bombarded with information. Our minds never truly get the opportunity to rest, which is why incorporating meditation into a self-care routine is important.

If you're finding your mind restless and wandering at night, or you're feeling overwhelmed and anxious, you may need to spend a few minutes meditation. Our Lavender scented candles would be wonderful to pair with this activity because of its natural soothing and relaxing properties.

2. Read a Book

Reading a book for fun is a great an inexpensive way to provide a little rest and relaxation for yourself. You can go to your local library or bookstore and pick up a copy of a book in your favorite genre.

Light your favorite Veronica Candle Co. candle and dive into your book. We recommend a relaxing, fresh scent such as Fresh Linen. It's clean and crisp fragrance will allow you to feel like you are enjoying your book in a clean space.

3. Take a bath/shower.

Sometimes after you've had a long day, taking a long bath or shower is just the thing you need to unwind. Sometimes, the simple things in life provide the biggest benefits.

We suggest our White Birch or Red Rose scents to go along with your brief escape from the world. Not only will our Red Rose scent have you feeling calm, it also ushers in feelings of tranquility to help you find some peace-of-mind at the end of a stressful day. Our White Birch scent includes eucalyptus and pine to provide a cooling, mint-like aroma that, along with a steamy shower, can open up a stuffy nose during those cold, winter months.

Check out bath products from Mariah by Design here. Locally made in Montana, they pair perfect with any candle for a top notch bath experience.

4. Yoga

Physical exercise is one of the best ways to show yourself a little love. While running or weightlifting may not be your thing, yoga is a great way to ease into a physical routine. Yoga not only provides the benefits of increased flexibility, muscle strength, and tone, but it also has great mental health benefits as well. It can reduce anxiety and stress, improve sleep quality, improve symptoms of depression, and even potentially reduce inflammation. Start out slowly by practicing a few times a week - we suggest creating a warm, inviting atmosphere with our Citron & Mandarin or Lilac candles to help liven up your routine.

5. Clean your space.

One of the best ways to clear your head is to have a clean space. A clean space IS a clear mind. Even though cleaning isn't one of the most enjoyable activities for some, it keeps you busy and can make you feel better in the end. Cleaning is also a great way to blow off some steam and clear your head. I love to keep candles burning all over my house on cleaning days. It not only makes your space smell amazing, but it creates a peaceful atmosphere. We recommend our Lilac or Fresh Linen candles for any clean space.
